Welcome to Curated Learning. This Privacy Policy outlines how the Curated Learning mobile application and associated online services (the “App” / “Service”) collect, use, store, and safeguard your personal information when you prepare for competitive exams using our platform.

        We prioritize transparency and user privacy. We only collect the minimal information necessary 
        to provide a personalized learning journey, track study progress, and facilitate collaborative preparation.
      

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following categories to provide and enhance our educational services:

A. Account and Authentication Information

Phone Number Authentication: Mobile number provided for one-time SMS verification (OTP) to securely create and access your account.
Google Sign-In: If you sign in or connect your Google account, we receive your name, email address, profile picture (avatar), and Google user identifier.

B. Academic Profile Information

Study Profile: Name, chosen username, date of birth, target competitive exam (e.g. UPSC, State PSC, SSC, Banking), aspirant preparation stage (beginner/intermediate/advanced), attempt number, and optional subjects.
Profile Picture: Optional photo uploaded or captured via device camera for your learner avatar.

C. Learning Progress & App Usage

Practice & Performance: Quiz attempts, mock test answers, accuracy percentages, timing, streak continuity, and saved bookmarks.
Community & Peer Interaction: Discussion posts, comments, doubt queries, study challenges, and peer ratings submitted within the Community section.

D. Photo-to-PDF Scanner & Google Drive Integration

Document Scanning: The app includes a Photo-to-PDF scanner tool allowing users to convert study notes and physical handouts into digital PDF files.
Google Drive Backup: Users can optionally connect their personal Google Drive account to store their scanned PDFs. We request only the non-sensitive https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file scope (which strictly allows access only to files created by the Curated Learning app).
Server Auto-Delete: Once a PDF is successfully uploaded to your personal Google Drive, the file is automatically deleted from Curated Learning servers. The document is accessed directly from your own Google Drive storage (leveraging your personal 15GB free Google storage).

2. Device Permissions We Request

The App requests access to certain device capabilities only when necessary for specific features:

Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): Used only when taking photos of study material for the Photo-to-PDF scanner or capturing a new profile photo.
Storage & Photos (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / Gallery): Used to pick photos from your library for document scans or avatars.
Push Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used to send study reminders, exam deadline alerts, community replies, and milestone achievements. You can turn this off anytime in Settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected data solely for legitimate educational and operational purposes:

To authenticate accounts and prevent unauthorized access or account takeover.
To customize syllabus recommendations, study targets, and practice test series.
To calculate performance analytics, accuracy graphs, and leaderboard rankings.
To send vital updates regarding exam dates, job alerts, and study schedule alarms.
To moderate community discussions and maintain a respectful, safe learning environment.

4. Data Storage, Security & Retention

Your data is hosted and managed using Google Firebase and Google Cloud Platform infrastructure. We implement industry-standard encryption protocols (HTTPS/TLS) in transit and AES encryption at rest. Access to user databases is governed by strict security rules and role-based permissions.

We do not retain personal scan files on our servers once they have been transferred to your Google Drive. Account and study progress data is retained as long as your account remains active.

5. Sharing & Third-Party Services

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information with third-party advertisers or data brokers. We only integrate trusted service providers essential for platform operations:

Google Firebase / Google Cloud: Secure authentication, cloud database, hosting, and push messaging.
Google Identity & Google Drive APIs: Account authentication and user-authorized document storage.

6. Children’s Privacy

Curated Learning is intended for students and aspirants preparing for competitive examinations (typically age 13 and older). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately for prompt deletion.

7. Your Rights & Account Deletion

You have full ownership of your data:

Access and Update: You can review and update your name, email, phone number, and study details anytime from the Profile section in the app.
Account Deletion: You have the right to permanently delete your account and all associated data. You can request immediate account deletion by emailing us at curatedlearningsupport@gmail.com or through the in-app Help & Support screen. All user profile records, quiz attempts, and community posts will be permanently purged within 30 days.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy periodically to reflect feature additions or regulatory standards. Any modifications will be posted directly to this URL with an updated revision date.
